Could a mini-shopping centre such as a Tesco Metro come to the village of Fairlie?

Prominent local housing developer Billy Kirkwood has revealed his future plans for the local area including housing, shopping developments and the re-location of a popular bowling green.

Mr Kirkwood, who is director of Robert Ryan Homes, has been closely involved in overseeing the sale of land at Fairlie for new housing which will provide much needed funds to pump into the restoration of Kelburn Castle.

He said: “We are keen to re-locate Fairlie Bowling Club, build a new clubhouse and some new housing, and potentially a Tesco Metro shopping centre. Tesco do not have a store on the Main Road between Stevenston and Greenock. The whole thing will be subject to a detailed planning application within the next couple of months.”

Listen to a six minute interview with Billy Kirkwood below...

He explains his role as President of Federation for builders, future projects at Kelburn Castle and Country Centre, and Fairlie Bowling Club..
