Sign of the times ... More roadworks have been going on in Largs this week.

Scottish Power are carrying out emergency repairs at the junction of the Haylie Brae and Irvine Road this week.

A fault in the cable main feeds between Largs and Fairlie has been detected and was undergoing repairs as we go to press.

The 24 hours a day maintenance is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Power said: “The work began on Tuesday and it is hoped that the road will be re-instated within around three days. Traffic lights are installed at the worksite. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience.”

British Telecom had been carrying out roadworks at the same position during the evenings of last week and will return to the same location at a later date to complete the works after Scottish Power needed to interrupt the other agency in order to carry out the emergency repair.

Further roadworks have been taking place in Greenock Road in Largs and look set to continue until this coming Saturday.

Essential gas mains renewal takes place on Greenock Road at the junctions with Auberty Crescent and Brisbane Glen Road over the course of the rest of the week.

Work is taking place 24 hours a day with temporary traffic lights and a convoy system in place until 8pm on Saturday evening.
