The potential loss of 60 car parking spaces from the original traffic management plan has been solved, North Ayrshire Council have said.

Mr Jack McConnachie, Transportation Manager, said: “We have made changes to the revised scheme, and identified extra spaces in a stretch of road in Gallowgate Street, outside the Escape amusement complex. The Hyndman Green area (between McCabes bar and Harlequin restaurant) will also have a formalised car park with an entry and exit.”

Mr McConnachie added that the aim of the scheme was to improve the overall traffic flow throughout the town

Largs councillor Alex Gallagher was happy with the arrangements and said: “Under the original traffic plan, we were going to have more of a parking problem. There have been some very sensible changes made as a result of consultations in my view.”

Concerning the original objections about one way systems, and reduced amount of traffic lights in the scheme, Mr McConnachie said: “Having walked around the area and examined it, I can see why people objected to the original proposals.”
