Millport veterans on the march

Printer Print Article

In a week during which a number of events were held nationally to honour veterans, RBLS Millport Branch held a combined Queen’s Birthday and Veterans’ Day Parade on Saturday when local members were joined by veterans from various areas on the mainland.

A full turnout of Legion and Regimental Assocation Standard Bearers gave a colourful spectacle to the march during which 19 Colours were on display.

The full turnout of RBLS Isle of Cumbrae Pipe Band ensured that the participants were given warm applause by the watching crowds.

The salute was taken at the Memorial by John Stott, Bridge of Weir, a Normandy Veteran, who was accompanied by North Ayrshire & Arran MP Katy Clark.

Following the Parade, the participants retired to the Branch Club where refreshments were served by the hard working ladies of the Club. Branch Chairman Andy Bryan thanked everyone for their participation.
