MSP welcomes new ferry report
The Loch Shira ferry on the Largs-Cumbrae crossing.
Cunninghame North MSP, Kenneth Gibson, has welcomed the findings of a new report into Scotland’s ferry network.
The Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Control committee inquiry was one of the most extensive conducted by a Scottish Parliament Committee with major evidence gathering. It included an online survey, video conferences, informal fact finding visits to meet ferry operators and users and committee meetings on Arran, Shetland and the mainland.
The Scottish Government will provide a response to the report and it is anticipated that it will be the subject of a full Parliamentary debate in September.
The committee made a number of recommendations, including adjusting timetables and frequency of sailings to better meet the needs of ferry users, improving communication and co-ordination between ferry, train and bus operators, promoting more effective consultation of ferry users by operators and improving accessibility of ferries and landing areas for disabled people.

SNP MSP Mr Gibson said:“Ferry users across Scotland, including those in Cumbrae, have given their views and been at the heart of this inquiry into how essential ferry services could be improved.
