Kenneth Gibson is seeking a stronger security presence at Largs Railway Station following a riot involving 20 teenagers at 10pm last Friday.

Train passengers were shocked to see two young girls being violently struck as a series of skirmishes broke out next to the ticket office. One girl showed her bleeding arm to shocked passengers on the train as shouting, screaming and tears continued during the chaotic scenes at the station.

British Transport Police confirmed that the pandemonium was captured on CCTV which may reveal the culprits. Two teenagers have already been arrested.

Reporter Calum Corral who was an eye-witness said: “I was heading home on Friday night on the 9.52pm train leaving Largs when screams could suddenly be heard. I wondered if it was just tomfoolery but the screaming continued and it sounded desperate. Suddenly people on my carriage were veering over to one side of the train to look out the window and I joined them.

“The first thing I saw was a group of teenagers all arguing and angrily remonstrating and pushing against each other. Suddenly, a male pushed a blonde girl violently against the double doors of the ticket office. She seemed to struggle to get up and seemed momentarily dazed. There must have been around 20 teens involved. The man who carried out the assault was then dragged away into further skirmishes as the loud screaming and crying continued, with girls in tears and large clusters taking running swipes, punching and kicking out at each other. Meanwhile, there was running battles as people were being chased up the other platform.

“I phoned the police on my mobile phone as I saw two station staff trying to restore calm but punches and kicks were still flying. This
