It's a hold-up!

Millport’s country and western festival was a cowboy celebration of the finest variety with a horse-drawn carriage and massive inflatable cowboy among the highlights of a memorable weekend.

Thousands travelled by ferry across the Isle of Cumbrae which had been converted into a colourful version of Nashville, Tennessee, with the stars and stripes flying and shop signs full of bullet holes!

The spectacular parade included a horse drawn carriage provided by Stagecoach which did a tour of the Isle of Cumbrae before taking part in the march along the seafront. Cumbrae Gala Queen Daisy McConnechie was given a special tour on the horse-drawn carriage. There was also a street fair with face painating and balloons and plenty of surprises along the way. Big Mac was also an impressive sight as the biggest cowboy in the western world featured in Saturday’s parade after arriving from America via Cal-Mac ferry of course.

The weekend consisted of live bands, line dancing, a massive street parade, shoot-outs and much much more.

The main venue was the local town hall which over the weekend as revellers enjoyed live music for free.
