Ten man Thistle down league leaders
By Calum Corral
Largs Thistle 3 Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 2
Dow about that? Thistle midfielder Martin Dow scored two brilliant goals to send the Thistle support home happy.
Largs Thistle's home form has not been the best this season but they were still able to overcome a number of obstacles including a weakened side to beat Rob Roy 3-2.
It was a timely victory for the club's morale after picking up only one point from their previous two Barrfields encounters, and keeps Thistle's promotion hopes alive.
Rob Roy took the lead in the first half and it looked like Groundhog Day as Largs were struggling to string passes together, but just as half-time approached midfielder Martin Dow scored a glorious looping header to level the scores.
Rob Roy missed a fantastic opportunity to go 2-1 up before the break as Chang headed over from point blank range.
Thistle started to play some good football after the break with Tom Molloy, John Robertson and Jamie Marks creating all sorts of problems for the table toppers.
Thistle went ahead after Gault's looping free kick into the box from the right was swept home with gusto by Ross McMillan from 15 yards, slamming low into the bottom right of the net on 55 minutes.
A corner kick from Gault out on the right landed at the far post where Dow calmly controlled the ball, and sneaked the ball into the top right of the net from the cutest of angles.
Rob Roy blew some good opportunities after that while Stephen Connick was at full stretch to block at the feet of Vaughn who seemed certain to score.
However, Vaughn was not to be denied as he found the net with a bullet header following a deflected corner kick on 84 minutes. Gus Gault saw red for his second bookable challenge as Largs had to play out the remainder with 10 men.
The eight and a half minutes of injury time was a nervy affair as Rob Roy searched in vain for an equaliser but came very close as Anderson's header came crashing off the crossbar.
Sandy McLean's side held out for a hard-working and deserved victory which gives Thistle an outside chance of promotion but need to carry on where they left off as they head into the final stretch of six games with eighteen points up for grabs.
Largs: Connick, Molloy, McCann, Gault, Shearer, McMillan, Robertson, Dow, McCabe, Jamieson, Marks. Subs; McClure, Donnelly, McLennon, McColl, McWilliams.
