New members welcome at Largs Tennis Club

New members will be most welcome to come along any Monday evening, players arrive from 6pm to play informally. Twenty minute games are organised from 7pm with partners and opponents changing between games.

Membership Fees: Players are reminded that this season’s membership is payable now, fees should be given to the Treasurer Alan McEwing as soon as possible. Please note, Seniors representing the club in league matches must be fully paid members of the club. All players will be required to be club members.

Scottish Cup Match: The Ladies 1st team were due to play against Kilmaurs on Monday in the first stage of the cup; however, the home team of Lesley Maclellan (Capt.), Hazel Koerner, Nancy Bunyan, Sue Wilkie, Margaret Gibson and Morcella Taylor were given a walk-over when the opposition withdrew. They will play the next round on Monday.

The league matches commenced this week. The Ladies 1st team travelled to Troon while the 2nd team were at home to Kilmarnock, results will be available next week.

Coaching sessions will commence on Tuesday 29th April and Thursday 8th May at the Largs tennis courts. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Classes will be organised initially in age groups, however players may be moved according to their playing performance. No previous experience is required and equipment will be provided for those without a tennis raquet. Players should wear clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor tennis, waterproofs may be required. Coaching sessions will only be cancelled if the courts are flooded or the playing surface is unsafe for Junior use.

Each session lasts one hour and the lessons this season, prior to the summer break will be for a six week block; this leaves spare weeks before the school holidays for rearranging coaching sessions if required due to inclement weather. Parents must complete a consent form for each child and please note that all players should be Largs Tennis Club members. Junior Club members attending Primary School will be given a membership card and will also be able to attend Fun days free of charge, these will be organised at weekends and during school holidays. Secondary pupils (Junior and intermediate members) will be able to come along to Friday night sessions from 5.30 to 6.30pm and have some competitive tennis with adult members.
