Hole in one at Routenburn

Printer Print Article

A HOLE IN ONE by Hamish Harkness helped Routenburn to a 4-2 win over visitors Skelmorlie in the first game of the season in the Whyte and Mackay Clyde Coast Senior League.

But it took a birdie 2 on the last hole to steal a draw from the Skelmorlie pairing of Tommy Campbell and John Nugent and ensure victory for the Largs-based team.

Skelmorlie’s winning duos were John MacDougall and Frank Kerr and Douglas Hodge and Tommy Mangan.

The Crawfurd Car Centre-sponsored Skelmorlie team at least looked resplendent in their canary-yellow outfits, but even they were outshone by Harkness’s hole in one at the par 3 fifth.
