Largs Ladies serve up big win

Courting attention ... Largs Ladies 1st team before their recent victory.

Largs Ladies led the way at the Douglas Park tennis courts last week as they triumphed at home to Troon 1 in the Ayrshire First Division.

Troon are usually in one of the top two positions in the league but Largs managed to pull out a great result to win by five sets to four. The team were Hazel Koerner and Nancy Bunyan, Lesley MacLellan (Captain) and Sue Wilkie, and Morcella Taylor and Margaret Gibson.

Largs Gents 1 lost nine sets to love at home to a dominant Ayr 1 outfit. The team were Ian Armstrong and Andy Auld, Malcolm McAulay and Lewis McAulay, and Peter Valerio and Derek Ballantyne.

Largs Gents 2 were resurrected half way through the season but came up against unbeaten Stewarton who proved too strong with an eight sets to one victory. Alan McEwing and Alan Taylor lost a tight contest by two sets to one, while pairings Calum Corral (Cpt) and Mike Corney, and David Corr and Alex Piggott lost in straight sets.

Junior Coaching .. The latest coaching at Doulgas Park is well underway with over seventy youngsters registered. There will be a Fun Session this Saturday for Juniors P1-P4 10am-11am and P5-7 11am-12 noon. The fun sessions are free to club members. The fun sessions are free to club members. There will be a charge of £5 for non members.

Friday 5.30pm - Secondary pupils and Adult club players. This session will resume this Friday. Open to all secondary pupils who are club members. It is hoped more senior players will come along to share their expertise with the younger players. Further details from Fiona Page 687196.
