Halkshill bowlers in final thriller

Halkshill Bowling Club were pipped for a place in the Scottish Finals after a thrilling match in the Ayrshire District Finals at Largs Bowling Club last week.
The fours team, skipped by Alan Rodger, and featuring Jim Crawford, Andy Combe and John McKenzie, went to the last end tied at 16-16 against Ardrossan BC who gained victory with the last bowl.
In an event which attracted about 500 players and spectators Largs club at Douglas Street hosted a memorable day and were thanked by the Scottish Bowling Association.
Blacklands and Irvine Park won the senior and junior singles respectively, Dalry BC won both the pairs and triples while Irvine Fullarton won the senior fours.
