The Raft Crusade - Largs Raft Race is back!
The Largs Raft Race is returning to the RNLI Open Day on Largs foreshore opposite the Vikingar! for the second year running after last year’s successful re-launch.
As usual, the hugely competitive battle on the seafront involves local groups and businesses trying everything in their power to reach the finishing line first with the use of flour, egg and water bombs actively encouraged!
Last year, rafts were decorated in the style of Pirates of the Carribean in a fun-filled afternoon of entertainment. The Potters Pirates will be returning to defend their title this year.
All the fun and games take place on Saturday 19 July from 12-4pm with Largs Round Table’s Raft Race itself expected to take place at around 1.30pm. Helictoper and RNLI demonstrations will be taking place on the RNLI Open Day as well as a variety of activities for the kids including face-painting.
In the raft race, there will be prizes for first finished, best dressed raft and the most money donated to the RNLI. The minimum entrance fee for each raft has been reduced to £20 for each team. Local businesses and groups are encouraged to enter.
Crews must consist of 3-8 people, must be over 16 and can swim, and you require to make your own raft with paddles. To register, go to www.largsroundtable.org.uk or phone Scott on 675203 (daytime)
