Ace time at Wimbledon

The green grass of home ... Members of Largs Tennis Club saw the stars at Wimbledon recently.

Read an extract from Calum Corral's trip to Wimbledon.

"The first thing that surprises you about Henman Hill is that it is not quite as big as you imagine from the tv. You need a good footing in order to stop sliding down and it took several hilarious attempts to get in position in front of the glorious big screen which is perfect viewing and very atmospheric.

We subsequently headed out to court number two where that wily old veteran Swede Jonas Bjorkman was playing his final doubles tournament with Zimbabwean Kevin Uyllett against the giants of doubles tennis, the Bryan Brothers of the United States.

Incredibly, as the rain clouds gathered, and we sat rooted to the spot enjoying some top class rallies like bolts out of the blue, some other bolts turned up of the thunderous variety. Incredibly, the doubles pairings were forced to leave as the covers went up on match point to Bjorkman/Uyllett.

We headed out to court no.11 as the rain clouds dissipated and were surprised to witness some tennis legends from the past as Martina Navratilova lined up ...
