Minute silence for Largs secretary
In memory of John ... A minute's silence was held for the late Largs United secretary.
Largs United 5 Dalry United 4
United's squad was bolstered by the return of four players from Saturday's opening draw at Dailly as they welcomed a strong Dalry side to town. A minute's silence before kick-off for club secretary John McInnes was impeccably observed and the United players took to the field determined to mark the occasion with three points.
Largs got off to the worst possible start when they conceded after two minutes. Dalry's number nine benefitted from referee Graeme Wallace's interpretation of the offside rule and United's protests fell on deaf ears as they trailed 0-1.
Dalry had quite a height advantage and they showed more desire in the opening ten minutes as Largs struggled to match them in the middle of the park. United had Cameron and Mitchell on the flanks and they crept into the game and began to make inroads towards Dalry's penalty area.
In the eleventh minute United drew level when Andy Scott teed up Scott Cameron who unleashed a beauty into the roof of the net from twenty yards to bring the sides level at 1-1.
The goal brought confidence and Largs started to match their opponents for a spell. Dalry's passing was very tidy and eventually they began to gain the upper hand as the half wore on. United were outnumbered in the middle of the park and Dalry's movement was causing their midfield and defence all sorts of problems.
