Plane problem ... Local children were set to miss out on a memorable trip to Lanzarote but a mysterious donor has stepped in.

AIR we go!

In an incredible act of kindness following one of our recent stories, an anonymous donation for £1000 was handed into the ‘News’ office for the North Ayrshire Swimming Group to go to Lanzarote following the collapse of air company XL.

We reported last month that the sudden closure meant that the local swimmers, who include pupils and coaches in Largs and West Kilbride areas, had been left in limbo due to the abrupt cancellation of their flights on their dream trip.

However, an anonymous donor has stepped in to the breach and made a fantastic gift to North Ayrshire Amateur swimming club. The trip has now been re-organised with lucky kids now heading on the sunshine holiday this week.
