Sex and the City
Starring: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
Its been four years since the hugely popular Sex and the City series ended which must seem like a long wait for fans. Sometimes the transition from the normal thirty minute television slot to the big screen does not work for sit-coms, therefore it will be interesting to see how fans react. The plot has been kept tightly under wraps but it seems likely that the formula of the series will not be changed too much. We can expect more of the same saucy antics from Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda that were the hallmark of the show.
California Dreamin'
Starring: Armand Assante, Jamie Elman and Razvan Vasilescu.
From the late director Cristian Nemescu, who tragically died in a car accident just after the film was completed, comes this comedy drama with the central premise involving a train transporting military equipment in Eastern Europe during the war in Kosovo. The train is stopped at a Romanian train station by an eccentric railway chief whose motives for wanting to delay the train reaching Kosovo are unknown. The film essentially deals with the relationship between the American soldiers led by Captain Jones(Armand Assante), involved in the military operation and those living in the village where they are held up. The story is told largely in a comedic and satirical style but there are also touches of drama which reflect the serious nature of war.
