Just the sight of Vik the Viking in Largs will signify the importance of keeping Largs lovely and free of rubbish.
That is the hope of volunteer June Gowland, a member of the Largs Information Bureau, who has taken it upon herself to launch a Largs campaign to encourage all ages including adults to keep streets tidy.
The cute mascot has become something of a local celebrity having appeared in local schools and is even the central figure in a new book which tells the tale of the Scandinavian warrior"s battle to save Largs for the 21st century.
Vik has also gone international as the global message to stop litter louts has been taken on board by the RFA Largs Bay ship.
The ship"s crew were so impressed by the concept that they have taken the mascot with them on their travels and are heading to the Carribbean this month.
