Vik the Viking's crusade against litter louts AUDIO

What a beautiful country we live in! Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates the need to preserve its beauty. In spite of efforts of our Litter Free Largs campaigners, rubbish continues to be dropped with selfish abandon all over the place.

We are ALL responsible for our own rubbish. Some people appear to believe that it is the responsibility of the Council to pick up after them, since they pay their Council Tax. if we all thought about this more carefully, we would realise that a sense of responsibility promotes a better quality of life. It would obviate the need for street litter pickers who are doing our dirty work for us.

We have had very successful visits to all Primary schools and some nursery schools in Largs. The younger children amongst us who fully subscribe to keeping our lovely town clean often shame the adults. They all understand the need to stop dropping rubbish anywhere they please.

I"m sure everyone will, by now, have spotted our wee Vik the Viking mascot in the numerous posters handed out to shops and businesses in Largs. PLEASE remember Vik"s message - LITTER BELONGS IN THE LITTER BIN, SO DO THE RIGHT THING AND THROW IT IN!
