The new Upbeats community choir will be the special star guests of a variety command performance at Barrfields Pavilion Theatre on Saturday, October 1.

Organised by BUG - the Barrfields' Users Group - the gala show will be a big fundraising night for the local theatre with the local contemporary choir, The Upbeats, starring for the final 40 minutes.

Three of the BUG members, Largs Youth Theatre, the Operatic Society and Largs Players will be presenting special comedy and singing spots for the event which will help to fund further improvements for the 80 year old theatre.

Over the past four years the voluntary BUG committee have worked alongside KA Leisure - who operate the theatre - to modernise the stage, lights, sound and décor of the 470 seat venue.

BUG have also re-opened the licensed bar for local shows. It is hoped to have a late night bar on October 1.

What makes it apt for The Upbeats to be performing is that members of all the other theatre clubs are part of the new choir, conducted by Mr Craig Smith, Head of Music at Largs Academy.
