This weekend an outstanding Scottish choir will visit the Cathedral of The Isles.

The Glasgow Chamber Choir will perform in the Cathedral at 3pm on Saturday.

The event will take the form of a service with hymns and readings before and after the main choral work - the Requiem by Herbert Howells. This deeply moving piece was written in memory of the composer's son Michael, who died in 1935 at the age of ten.

Among those attending the service will be members of the Friends of the Cathedral of The Isles, who will have held their AGM in the morning. The choir is famous throughout Scotland and beyond, and have been regular visitors to the Cathedral for some years. It will be a real joy to hear them perform this wonderful piece in the Cathedral's beautiful acoustics. All will be welcome, and there will be a retiring collection."
