Largs Amateur Operatic Society will present Roger and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! to audiences in Barrfields Pavilion Theatre, Largs from Wednesday 29 March to Saturday 1 April.

Doors open daily at 7pm, with curtain up at 7.30pm. There is also a matinee performance on Saturday 1 April at 2.30pm (Doors open at 2pm). This amateur production is by arrangement with R&H Theatricals Europe:www.rnh.com

Under the direction of Irene Cameron and the baton of David Edwards the cast is well into rehearsals for their latest musical production: Oklahoma! The musical is based on the play 'Green Grow the Lilacs' by Lynn Riggs.

Linda McMurray is delighted to be back on stage with Largs Amateur Operatic Society. She takes on the role of Aunt Eller in their production of Oklahoma! at Barrfields Theatre.

Linda directed the adult casts in the Society's productions of of Music 'Oliver' and 'The Wizard of Oz' and the full cast in 'My Fair Lady' and and 'Brigadoon'.

Linda trained in Acting Performance with London Guildhall School of Music & Drama and has played numerous principal roles throughout the west of Scotland.

Amongst her favourite roles are Reno Sweeney in 'Anything Goes', Jeanette, the piano player in 'The Full Monty', Celia in 'Calendar Girls', Mrs. Culfeathers in 'The Steamie' and Miss Gultch/ Wicked Witch of the West in 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Linda is also an active member of Largs Players, and is looking forward to working with this young, talented cast in Oklahoma!

When asked to reveal a little-known fact about Aunt Eller, Linda can reveal that the character is rather fond of French lingerie as the audience will find out as the story unfolds.

Robbie Quinn is playing the part of Jud Fry. The character Jud Fry is a sinister, lonely man who lives in the smokehouse on Aunt Eller's farm. He's in charge of the upkeep and maintenance of the farm.

This is Robbie's first performance for the society, having performed in previous years with Largs Players, Largs Youth Theatre and Largs Academy in shows such as 'Caledonia USA', 'The Wizard of Oz', and 'West Side Story'.

Robbie is in the process of applying to join courses for musical theatre at various colleges.
