Largs Players have swooped to sign up a seagull with a difference for their popular summer theatre.

Local author and actress Alison Green will be a guest performer in most of the summer shows at the Lounge Clubroom in Largs beginning next week on Thursday, July 13. She will appear as the Seagull Commander in one of the comedy spots.

The Players are setting up stage for five weeks in Lounge in Main Street after many years in the Brisbane Centre as part of the 24th consecutive season of summer theatre.

In another new move, the local club have linked up with SHIMS (Scottish Head Injuries Music Support) group to present a world premiere musical Invisible, written by North Ayrshire songwriter Robin Lucas, and featuring local performers Pat Nicol, George Whitestone and Drew Cochrane alongside musicians and members of SHIMS. The show will raise money for the head injury therapy project.

At the new venue there will be Thursday and Friday evening shows running for five weeks until Friday, August 11 at 7.30pm. (Please note that there will be no shows on the Thursdays of July 20 and August 3 due to other events).

While comedy plays, including 'Holiday' by Peter Quilter, set in Torremolinos, will still feature in the first half of the programme the Players will present the musical story in the second half. Tickets at £8 are on sale at Lounge for the eight shows. Audiences can enjoy a drink while watching the entertainment.
