The "No Poo on my Shoe!" are having their AGM on Tuesday 3rd June at 10am in the Library Community room. The public are welcome.

Five new dog bag dispensers that have been sited around Largs. These are being trialled and feedback so far has been good. Mark McNeil, (Litter Officer) has been patrolling Largs randomly, and will continue to do this with local police officers and other Litter Officers from NAC.

Mrs Maureen Muir of the No Poo on My Shoe campaign said: 'As well as ensuring dog owners clean up after their dogs, Mark has been listening to the views of local dog owners and to members of "No Poo on my Shoe! Many dog owners were unhappy with the bin design and felt that they were not being emptied enough. Part of the problem has been the bin design which was causing items (not intended for dog bins) to get jammed and make the bin appear full. NAC have now redesigned the bins. Any new bins, or old bins to be replaced, will now have the new design.

'A lot of people have commented recently that there is a lot less dog poo around. I have noticed this myself. I don"t think I"ve seen it looking better. I believe our campaign is definitely achieving the desired result. There is still always room for improvement though.

'One area which people always complain about is the path from the Marina towards Hunterston. Apparently it is absolutely disgusting. It seems many dog owners (or could it be the same few?) are content to leave their dog"s mess lying around for others to stand on. This applies also to general litter. Mark, the Litter Officer has been informed and will be patrolling this area. There will hopefully be a bin sited there soon.'
