An HMS Royal Gannet helicopter and paramedics rushed to the back hills of Largs on Saturday afternoon to provide assistance to an injured climber.
Another helicopter was also hovering near the scene which unfolded behind Flatt Farm and Alexander/Woodcroft Avenue area at around 2.45pm.
Many of the football supporters at Barrfields Park viewed the dramatic scenes as the chopper circled the local hills.
A spokeswoman for Clyde Naval base confirmed that the HMS Royal Gannett was deployed to help transport an injured male climber to a nearby hospital. She said: 'There was an injured climber on the back hills of Largs who needed to be medically rescued and he was transferred to a hospital." Ambulance vehicles also rushed to the scene as Largs was awash with sirens on a warm spring afternoon while the other helicopter, possibly belonging to the RAF, was overhead providing additional support.
Largs and Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue teams were called out to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service"s air ambulance helicopter which had landed below the 'Quad Rocks' above Largs.
