Warden services have been cut at the Cathedral of the Isles in Millport resulting in one member of staff losing her job.

Helen Hamilton was serving as warden at the Cathedral and had been heavily involved in matters concerning the building but has been made redundant.

The Cathedral of the Isles is owned by the Diocese of Argyll and Isles, based in Oban, and is managed by Island Retreats Limited (IRL) also of Oban.

Jean Ainsley, Managing Director of Island Retreats Ltd, confirmed the redundancy after answering questions from the 'News'.

She said: 'The position of Warden has been made redundant because of the financial circumstances facing the College. The board of Island Retreats Ltd hope to keep the College operating and have had to make difficult decisions in order to try to do this. Making the position of Warden redundant was one of these decisions." Read full reaction to the move in this week's Largs and Millport News, out April 1.
