Mrs Sunita Poddar spoke enthusiastically on the family's hopes of rejuventating the nation's health, with Wee Cumbrae as their base.

The once "severly obsese" mother-of-three pointed out that she had lost a stone in one week thanks to Swami Ramdev's special regime and said: "We believe we have a lot to offer. We can make Scotland healthy in 10 years - that's what we are in it for. We want to give you an opportunity to try it for yourself. All the classes are free.

"We can make our neighbours healthy, then the city, then the country. I know it's going to work - guaranteed.

"We are starting with Scotland and then going to the world. We have gone as far as China and Africa with our teachings - people are accepting it because they are seeing the benefits. We can make these changes." She added: "We want to give something back and make Scotland the healthiest nation in the world. Charity begins at home. India is my birthplace, but my loyalty lies with Scotland." Daughter Arti commented: "When people say they will visit Scotland, they will think of Wee Cumbrae. We didn't have all this in our heads - Wee Cumbrae found us.

"We very much want to work within the local community. We are supporting businesses and want to work with the local community for the long-term. Our organisation is very inclusive.

"We want to welcome the community with open arms." Those wishing to attend the blessing of the island this Sunday are invited to join in the 'Hawan' ceremony between 10.30am and 11.30am. The first shuttle from Fairlie Yacht Haven begins at 7am.
