Organisers of this year's Yuletide shopping extravaganza are looking to make dramatic changes including a quick return of the popular Continental market which would have a Christmas theme.

The Largs Yuletide group, a strand of the local business group, the Largs Initiative, are going to ditch the traditional late night shopping event which takes place on the first Thursday of December and instead host the festive extravaganza over the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December instead.

Mrs Marlyn Green, the chairman of the Largs Initiative, has revealed that the group are in talks with the Continental Market about returning to Largs for possibly another four day stint which would include the yuletide weekend.

The international food fayre has been a huge success on the local seafront during recent years but Mrs Green indicated that the one stumbling block concerning attracting the market is finding a suitable location as their normal promenade spot could be out of bounds come December if the weather is bad.

Largs would be following the lead of a few other towns in Scotland including Troon to have shifted their yuletide celebrations to the weekend as opposed to a late night opening.

Do you think it is a good idea to replace Yuletide night with a weekend of festivities?
