North Ayrshire Council has pledged to invest £140,000 in Largs town centre to improve traffic flow.

With local councillors unhappy at the safety aspects of the new roundabout and limited changes so far, NAC announced this week that 'significant' work will be carried out at Tron Place, Hyndman Green and at the approach to the seafront car park.

There will also be a one way system implemented in a number of streets, most notably Waterside Street, Fraser Street, Bellmans Close, Gallowgate Lane, Stanlane Place, and Church Street.

Amey, contracted on behalf of Transport Scotland, have resurfaced the main trunk road, and the council will now begin additional work as follows.

Tron Place Tron Place will be made a one way street with access restricted to disabled drivers (24 hours) and loading vehicles (no access between 10am and 7pm daily).

A raised speed table (raised red asphalt covering) of approximately 25 metres is planned, with associated road markings and signage.

A spokesperson stated: "This will help to reduce the volume of traffic and slow the remaining vehicles, whilst also creating a road surface which is more flush with the kerb to allow ease of access for wheelchair users and pedestrians.
