Some of Scotland's most prestigious sailing silverware will be contested at Savills Kip Regatta on the weekend of 15/16 May. Scotland's first major regatta will bring together some of the new breed of race boats on the Clyde this season.

Robin Brechin's "Elf" and Steve Cowie's "Zephyr", a Farr First 40, will be there, as will Iain Laidlaw's new J97 "Jaywalker". John Corson's recently upgraded Salamander, former winner of the series, is expected to challenge the top slot again. Also returning to Scotland, after a winter update to the keel and rudder, is Phil Eagleton's Evergreen tonner "Chia Chia".

A new White Sail class has been introduced to the event which gives the lesser crewed boats a chance to participate at one of Scotland's premier racing events. The White Sail division will be a season-long event with entries for Kip Regatta in May, Cove Regatta in June and the Marine Blast Regatta in September providing a full summer series. Andrew Perratt, Director of Savills in Glasgow and the West of Scotland said "Savills is well known for its sailing connections worldwide, including sponsorship of the Australian Short Ocean Race. The event just keeps getting bigger and better and, as a prime waterfront property agent and a personal sailing enthusiast and competitor, I am delighted to continue Savills support here in Scotland." Kip Marina General Manager, Duncan Chalmers, enthused "With Savills continuing sponsorship, a new White Sail class and a number of owners' new boats for next season, we are really looking forward to this year's event." Royal Western Yacht Club will continue the on-water management at Savills Kip Regatta. Entry forms and further information is available from Kip Marina - tel: 01475 521485.
