The great West Kilbride scarecrow festival might be revived after all.
Although it fell by the wayside this summer and a public meeting did not seem to get enough support a few villagers have a plan of revival.
Writing to the Largs News this week Michele Oldham and Bill Borland have sought support.
They wrote: "People in the village are working diligently to form a new voluntary group to ensure that there will be a West Kilbride Scarecrow Festival in 2012 - and for the years beyond!
"The Scarecrow Festival ran very successfully for seven years until last year, bringing much-needed income from outwith the village for West Kilbride businesses and greatly enriching community life for village residents."
