The North Ayrshire Fairtrade Steering Group is a body set up to work towards North Ayrshire becoming a Fairtrade Zone.
Kilwinning gained Fairtrade Town status in December 2013 together with both St Marys in Largs and St Luke’s in Kilwinning gaining Fairtrade School status. The village of Fairlie celebrated 10 years of Fairtrade village status recently plus Arran has renewed its status and Largs hopes to shortly.
Fairtrade ambassador Donald Reid told the Largs & Millport Weekly News: "In our efforts to establish who actually is promoting Fairtrade across North Ayrshire we are looking for retailers, restaurants, churches, schools, workplaces and groups who do anything to support Fairtrade to get in touch with us to allow us to include your details in our Application for North Ayrshire Fairtrade Authority Status.
"Please help us by providing details of who you are, what you are doing, and which fairtrade certified products you are selling or serving.
Send information by email to Joe Broussard at joe@broussard.co.uk or phone 01294 552284. "
