The business community and wider surrounding area of Largs is in mourning after the passing of Lyn Nicholson, the owner of the Carousel Crafts shop in Largs.
Lyn, well known in Largs for running a wool shop at 126 Main Street, passed away at Inverclyde Royal Hospital on Sunday at 5pm following a short illness.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

She was always creating colourful and imaginative front window displays and one of her most recent was for the Largs Food Festival, which received nationwide attention after coverage in
daily newspapers. For the big festival occasion, Lyn knitted buns, cakes, sandwiches, pies,
vegetables and even suspended knitted seagulls with knitted chips in their knitted beaks.
These beautiful and eye-catching displays over the years included the Viking Village and other themes to reflect local events.
Lyn had run a wool shop in Largs in several sites over the past 30 years.
Indeed, one of Lyn’s shops was demolished in 1995 when a train came crashing through the buffers and landed in Largs Main Street. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured.
Lyn has also taken a very active community role down the years, having served on the committee of the Brisbane Queen, and was treasurer in the M.S Hyperbaric Chamber in West Kilbride for 20 years.
For Lyn’s funeral, the family have respectfully asked that no black be worn, and ‘cheery colours only’ — and remember to bring your knitting.
The family would also like to thank all who sent cards and kind messages to Lyn over the past few months during her time in hospital.
Lyn’s funeral will take place on Thursday 15 October at Dreghorn Crematorium at 2pm and thereafter to Brisbane House Hotel, Largs.
