It’s not often that you see the Indian face, painted on a rock, on Cumbrae singing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody!
But that was the incredible sight which wowed visitors to Millport’s illuminations weekend, as a colourful computer graphics light show was one of the highlights of a memorable weekend.

The projection show lit up Lorne Villa house to gasps of excitement from the crowd.

The display was organised by Ian McGreish. Using his projector, Ian was able to map out the house and install graphics via computer, to a showcase of music and stunning lights, and moving animation graphics.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

Ian enlisted some help from his niece, Laurie Corewyn, who used an iPhone app to sync the singing lips to the Indian Face with impressive results.
Ian laughed: “The whole project took me six months to plan and coordinate, but it took Laurie 10 minutes to make the Indian Face sing thanks to her iPhone app!”
The show ran in a loop from 7.30pm till 10.30pm, and attracted hundreds of people to Lorne Villa,
near Kames Bay, close to the boating pond area.

“It was quite a hike for people to get out to, but they were thoroughly entertained when they got here,” said Ian, “and lots of people came as we had put out a number of flyers at the pubs and cafes.”Other surprise images included the multi-coloured wallpaper of the Ritz featuring, and Ian explained that he just took a photo and applied it via photoshop. He added: “That part was relatively straight forward, the hard part was changing the colours in time to the music!”
Ian, 53, lives in Glasgow, but has been a Millport holidaymaker ‘since year zero’, and works as an IT
engineer. The upstairs of the house belongs to his mother, and the downstairs is his younger sister’s house, Morna McGreish.
