Largs Police Chief Joseph Conway has said that he is pleased that reported crimes are significantly down in the Largs area.
The Inspector was commenting on new statistics which shows nearly an average 25% decrease on reported crime compared to last year from April through to September.
In 2014, there were 155 crimes reported in Largs town centre during this period, compared to 114 this year. And in outlying areas around Largs, there were 133 crimes last year, compared to 110 this year.
However, there has been a slight increase in reported crimes in Skelmorlie from 24 to 26 during the same period, and again, there has been a slight rise in West Kilbride, from 110 to 113 reported incidents.
Inspector Conway said: "This is a significant drop in reported crime, particularly in Largs Town Centre, although there are slight decreases in Skelmorlie and West Kilbride."
The full statistics will be unveiled at the forthcoming North Coast and Cumbrae council meeting, and will include the Millport figures, which are still being analysed at present.
