Friends of Rebecca Ross, the Largs teenager killed in a tragic car crash at the weekend, paid a touching tribute to her - letting off a stream of balloons to fly high over Largs, each with their own poignant message attached.
Rebecca tragically died in a car crash on the A760 on Friday evening.
Friends also left farewell messages and flowers for Rebecca near the site of the crash as the community was left to come to terms with another traumatic road crash, just six days after Kenneth Stratton died after hitting a bus near Hunterston.
The 17 year old was a passenger in a Nissan Juke, which was being driven by her 18 year old boyfriend, when it collided with a Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction at 10.30pm. Rebecca and her boyfriend had been heading towards Largs when the accident took place.
Three other people were left injured, with the 28 year old woman passenger of the other vehicle fighting for her life.
The driver of the Nissan was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital, with chest injuries, and his condition is described as serious but stable.
The 32 year old driver of the Ford Focus was taken to Paisley Royal Alexandria Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries before being released.
The road was closed until Saturday morning, as police carried out investigations.
Police said: “We would ask anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to come forward.”
Rebecca, who lived in Northfield Park, had left Largs Academy, but the school held a special assembly on Monday morning to provide help and support for pupils who were friends of Rebecca’s. Her mum and dad are Heather and Steven Ross, and sister Jessica, who originally come from Paisley, but have lived locally for many years.
