A consultation into library opening time changes took place at Largs Library last Tuesday

Libraries in Largs, Fairlie, Skelmorlie and West Kilbride are facing a mixed bag of proposals. Largs Library is set to see opening hours cut by up to 12.5 hours a week, while West Kilbride will reduce by three hours.

However, Fairlie and Skelmorlie would maintain current hours, but with a reworked timetable.

Tricia Daisley messaged the 'News' to say: "Unfortunately one of my children was unwell so I couldn't attend however I have commented on the consultation on the North Ayrshire website and would encourage others to do so. I commented on Skelmorlie library. I think proper advertising of what each local library provides would be great, and Saturday morning opening as many other NA libraries have. West Kilbride even have a lego club on Saturday mornings, I think this is great!"

A NAC spokesman said: "We have undertaken research to identify when libraries are most used and have had discussions with library staff. We have developed 2 options which we believe would allow maximum use of library services across North Ayrshire within the available resources."
