Youth and Experience combined to make the weekly Largs Rotary meeting a most interesting occasion

Youth was provided by Matt and Aiden, two senior pupils accompanied by a member of staff from Largs Academy, the boys had returned from a Rotary sponsored Rotary Youth Leadership Awards scheme, and had prepared a power-point presentation of their experience.

Rotary spokesman Carl Williamson said: "This included problem solving, with an out-door theme, e.g building river rafts with logs, ab-sailing, sleeping out doors in a hammock, combining with other students to assist in solving tasks this formed friendships, which they hope to continue, and together fund raise for charity in the future. Previous students who have been on the course all gained from it ,Matt and Aiden should surely do like-wise."

Experience was provided by Drew Cochrane, who was also a guest of the club on the day.

This was an opportunity for Drew to describe how the grant system from the Kelburn Wind Farm Trust is managed, the Rotary Club used a such a grant, to send Matt and Aiden, on their course.

He spoke of the varied organisations who have benefitted over the last years, and invited applications from local community based groups, to

avail themselves of these funds.
