A Largs Conservative councillor is joining calls by residents to improve a stretch of the A78 near Largs Golf Club which sufferes from flooding.
Councillor Tom Marshall said: "My view is that in general this road is maintained to a high standard.
"However there is one problem that gives real cause for concern. This is recurrent flooding of the southbound carriageway at the south end of Largs adjacent to Kelburn Golf Course.
In correspondence with Transport Scotland, Cllr Marshall wrote: "In heavy rain there is standing water across all of the southbound carriageway. This has been the situation for a few years and I wonder if you could update me on any proposals to address this hazard"
The Area Manager South Network Maintenance Transport Scotland replied to Cllr. Marshall and said: "Scotland Transerv are investigating and designing a minor improvements scheme in this area to resolve the drainage issues. I will keep you posted once they have more details."
