Millport Post Office in Guildford Street closes its doors for the last time on Tuesday 2 February.
The office will now be situated just a few yards further along in the Premier Stores.
Island correspondent Mary Currie said: "This is happening nationally all over the country, due in part to the government's withdrawal of subsidies to Post Office Ltd.
"The present post mistress Gail Yuill will have run the office for eight years this month as the office closes. Gail is continuing with the premises with a new business selling hardware, kitchen appliances, pet supplies and garden supplies, A big thank you must go to all the former owners of Millport Post Office for all their hard work serving the community. Best wishes to Gail with her new venture and good luck to Steven Dobbin in the Premier Stores with the new look post office. Barbara Norton is moving from her position working in the post office part-time to the new one in the Premier Stores and will bring her expertise and experience."
