It is the 80th anniversary of the Greenock Philharmonic, and to celebrate, a special one-off 'Messiah for All' concert is taking place at the Clark Memorial Church on Saturday 20 February.
Talented soprano Helen Lothian of Largs will be showcasing her vocal talents once more in the town, and it promises to be a night not to be missed.
The rehearsal for those singing in the choir is at 2pm with the actual performance at 7pm, and singers from the community are urged to come along and take part in the celebration event.
Helen sang as a member of the choir  as a schoolgirl before she went to the then Royal Scottish Academy of Music Music and Drama to study singing.
Helen's late father Dan was also a member of the choir and the Greenock Philharmonic Society has for many years benefited from the support of a large group of enthusiastic choristers from Largs, Fairlie and Skelmorlie.
Helen is rapidly gaining recognition as a classical cross over vocalist with great versatility in style and repertoire.
As a soloist and graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she has performed with leading orchestra and opera houses including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Helen has recorded for Classic FM and Radio 3 and has performed extensively in opera, oratorio, recital and light music.
By staging this Messiah for All in Largs, the choir hopes to attract and recruit new members to its ranks so the emphasis for this event is firmly on participation.
The choir is fortunate to have as its conductor the enormously talented Spaniard Alejandro di Palm Garrido who is also conductor of the popular Largs Choir - Variations.
Alejandro won a prestigious International Conducting Competition which was staged in Malaga in the summer of 2015.
David Agnew of Largs said: "I am president of the Greenock Philharmonic Society choir and we are running a one off  'Messiah for All' in Clark Memorial Church, and as as the name suggests, is open to anyone from the general public who can sing to come along and join in..
"Its our 80th season and we have invited among others, local talented soprano, Helen Lothian, to join us for what hopes to be an excellent evening with a capacity audience."
