Saving lives is at the forefront of a shop's fundraising campaign.

The Largs First Responder team took part in an important fundraising and demonstration event at the Co-op on Saturday.

The responders were teaching the public vital life saving skills whilst raising funds for the shop's on-site 24 hour public access defibrillator, the next edition to the town's growing collection.

The responders are pictured with Daniel Jack, Team Manager for Co-op, who said: "The fantastic efforts of the team resulted in £50 towards our defibrillator fund. We are well on our way to our target figure, but still have a wee bit to go. Any donations are welcome and can be dropped in to the Largs Co-op.

"It's such a great cause as it brings the community and local businesses together and you never know when you may be in need of a defibrillator. We have other events lined up for the summer including a sponsored cycle round Cumbrae."

On Saturday morning, a presentation is taking place to officially launch the two other public access defibrillators at Morrison's Supermarket at 10am and outside The George Bar in Largs Main Street at 10.30am. The defibs have been available to use in recent weeks since being installed.

The devices help to deliver a therapeutic dose of electrical current to the heart, and could make the difference between life and death.

The public have rallied round behind the scheme to provide £2000 for two defibrillators to be based at Morrison's car park, and at the bottom end of Main Street, with Co-op hoping to add a third to the town centre.

These defibrillators and cabinets will include full audio instructions for the public to use the life saving equipment during an emergency situation.
