The Largs branch of Royal British Legion Scotland are holding a special presentation at the war memorial on Saturday 30 April.

The branch are hosting a dedication service for a memorial poppy bench in memory of the fallen servicemen and woman, and also to those who survived from the town.

After this, it will be handed over to the community council for safe keeping for the people of Largs.

Local councillors, politicians, dignitaries and Legionnaires from around Ayrshire have been invited to a special tribute which takes place at 2pm.

Hugh O'Brien of the Largs branch said: "We hope that as many members of the public will come along and join us and will be warmly welcome.

"We are presenting the bench to the people of the town because we hope that they get some comfort in having somewhere to go and have a seat and quietly remember loved ones lost and those who survived during all conflicts."
