The recent coffee morning at Fairlie Parish Church had all the perfect ingredients for a great event, with memories of a special lady.

This was because a new recipe book went on sale to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care, written by Linda Donaldson, who sadly passed away last year.

Linda's husband, Steve was on hand to sell the book for the charity, and said: "My wife was a volunteer for breast cancer care, and she joined the Fairlie Guild, and attended a lot of the coffee mornings, and came up with the idea of the recipe book.

"All these trays come round and she thought who makes it? She thought it would be a good idea to write these recipes down so we can continue to do this, unfortunately Linda passed away before that. I didn't know they were going to continue you on with the book idea, but the church were very keen. I said it was a fantastic idea, Linda would be chuffed that the book would carry on, and the recipes could be used for young people in future such as a gift for newlyweds.

"Linda saw that people were getting on in years, and she didn't want these recipes to vanish. A request was sent round the village for people's favourite recipes."

Linda was a volunteer in a breast cancer awareness programme, and was also involved in various campaigns to battle against breast cancer, but sadly died last July at the young age of 52.

Steve said: "Linda was a lovely lady and the coffee morning was very popular, and the initial run of 150 books have sold very well, and they are now doing a reprint.
