2016 is another landmark year for Paddle Steamer Waverley, as it marks the 70th anniversary of her launch.
However, Waverley can only succeed and survive with the support of her passengers coming up the gangway, and the dedication of her professional officers, crew and shore staff, backed up by the “army” of volunteers across the UK who support her operation in a wide range of crucial tasks and activities.
The ship’s operators, Waverley Excursions, are now actively seeking to augment the volunteer team in Waverley’s home waters of the Firth of Clyde in two key activities – Publicity Distributers, and Pier Hosts in the Largs and Millport areas.
The main role of the Publicity Distributer is to assist with the effective distribution of publicity materials, while identifying new sites to increase the reach of material, and generally supporting the overall marketing effort on the ground.
Pier Hosts are the first point of contact at the ports visited by Waverley, and their role is to communicate clearly and effectively with passengers, and act as an ambassador for the ship and the company, ensuring that relevant and accurate information is provided to passengers at the port.
Both roles require a committed, positive and adaptable approach to dealing with customers and businesses, as well as a genuine interest in supporting the aims and ethos of the
Waverley organisation.
If you can spare some time over the summer months to contribute positively to the operation of Waverley, please email volunteers@waverleyexcursions.co.uk for a Job Description/Person Specification, stating which role(s) you are interested in.
