Inverkip Primary is the winner of Scottish Autism’s ‘A is for Autism’ competition.

The event, which took place during March to mark Autism Awareness Month, was shared on the charity’s Facebook page, and received a huge 782 'likes’ giving them the winning photo.

Their entry, see picture, shows the whole school in the playground forming a giant letter ‘A’ after they had held their autism assembly.

The school is going to use the prize voucher to buy some new books recommended by the Scottish Book Trust about children on the autism spectrum, which they hope will be useful in supporting pupils and their families in their quest to learn more about autism.

Karen Wilson, Scottish Autism’s Fundraising Manager, said; “We’d like to send our congratulations to Inverkip Primary School for sending us such a fabulous photo, which captured the imagination of lots of our Facebook audience - just what we wanted to achieve!

"A special mention must go to the school janitor, Mr Donnelly, who climbed up a ladder to take the picture!”

Autism Awareness Month is marked all over the world, and the charity aims to raise awareness and understanding of the condition in Scotland through activities like the‘A is for Autism’ competition.
