Millport is gearing up for its first ever comedy festival as more details about the performing acts are revealed this week.

And aptly, it is the local comedians who are to the fore as Pint Sized Productions, based in Largs, kick off the weekend on Friday 22 July with some very adult humour and strong language!

Laura Edison, a stalwart of Largs Players going back 20 years, will be teaming up with Natalie Sweeney in 'Scrubbers', with a cameo by Gordon McMurray who channels Rikki Fulton in his comedy sketch as the unforgettable Rev I.M Jolly. The evening show starts at 7.30pm, costing £8, at The Newton Bar.

It is not just adult entertainment either, as the kids have fun too on Saturday 23 July - there is free stand-up entertainment for the kids at 2pm at The Goldfish Bowl in The Garrison, with top class entertainers including Viv Gee, Chris Henry and Billy Kirkwood, with energy, chaos and lots of laughs promised.

And the main headline event takes place at Millport Town Hall on the evening of Saturday 23 July, doors open at 8pm, starting at 8.30pm - tickets are £10.

Four top class comedians will be doing stand-up, led by M.C Scott Gibson, who mixes a conversational style with his own unique brand of dark humour. The comedians include the following: Michael Redmond is a hugely established comedian, who appeared in the much loved Channel Four comedy Father Ted. Gary Little is a master storyteller who regularly headlines a lot of the top comedy clubs in the UK. Christopher McArthur Boyd was runner-up in the Scottish Comedian of the Year awards in 2015 and is tipped to be Scotland's next big thing.

And also on Saturday 23 July, Dr Ray Lowry, a retired doctor and dentist will have you in stitches with his stories of medical mayhem and dental disorder. The event takes place at The Tavern Bar at 9pm and is free.

A successful TV comedy writer (The Two Ronnies, Dave Allen, Kenneth Williams) turned doctor and dentist, Dr Lowry has been entertaining audiences all over the UK, and offers a mixture of anecdotes, physical comedy and visual jokes.
