Largs Rotary is going 'Back to the Future' and is looking at a cultural exchange for a lucky school pupil at Largs Academy to go to Australia.

At last week's business meeting, members discussed the possibility of setting up an exchange for their 'Brisbane Ambassador' - a position which is held each year by a Largs Academy pupil.

Following the sad demise of the Brisbane Queen festival in 2007, the Largs Rotary have carried on the tradition to a certain extent by appointing a Brisbane Ambassador at the school.

Rotary man Carl Williamson explained: "The Brisbane Ambassador is under discussion, to perhaps involve an exchange, with a pupil nominated by the Stones Corner Rotary Club from Australia, both Clubs have been involved in joint

projects previously,"

Meanwhile, several other popular events involving pupils from the Academy will continue, while the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is again on the agenda, and is always enjoyed by those attending

On other Rotary business, discussions on how the charity funds gathered during the last year will be allocated were resolved, and will be made known shortly. Conveners reported on activities during the last year, and forward to the coming year, some office bearers have changed for the new term.

The club are indebted to all who attended the recent Strawberry Tea, also the ladies of Round Table, and the other volunteers, who helped on the day. The money raised helps boost the charity fundraising of the club.
