A total of £90,000 has been earmarked to improve a public path in Largs, while a study is to take place to improve active travel around the town.
These are among the projects being carried out as part of an overall £1.5m spend around North Ayrshire to improve local paths and cycle routes.
Amongst the confirmed projects, where funding has been secured, is the path between Alexander Avenue and Moorburn Road in Largs is to be upgraded. £45,000 is provided by North Ayrshire Council, and other half is provided by access charity Sustrans.

The council say that the upgrade will be to an all abilities and multi user access standard, and improve opportunties for active travel to and from Largs Campus.

Council leader Willie Gibson said: “I think the team behind this deserve enormous credit for securing all this funding in this difficult and challenging financial climate.
“All the projects are about improving the amenity of areas, helping our communities become even more active and healthy while protecting and enhancing our environment for current and future generations.”
