Inspector Joe Conway of Largs Police voiced his disappointment at three drink driving offences at the weekend which were all local.
A 42 year old woman refused to give a breath test after she was stopped in Stanlane Place, Largs, at 12.40pm last Friday.
A 38 year old man from Largs was allegedly six times over the legal alcohol limit when his vehicle was stopped in Eastern Avenue, Largs, at 12.25am on Saturday.
And another 38 year old man from Largs was reported for being allegedly four times over the limit in Gogo Street at 11.35pm on Saturday.
Chief Superintendent Andy Edmonston, Head of Road Policing, said: "Even if you’re just over the limit, you’re still a drink driver in the eyes of the law – there is no grey area. This may affect your current and future employment and can have wider implications for other areas of your life including overseas travel. If you drink and drive, you won’t just spoil summer, the effects can last a lifetime.
"Our message is simple – the best approach is none.”
Police Scotland launched its annual summer drink/drug drive campaign this month.
The campaign combines high visibility patrols and roadside checks to catch those driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
